CRD IV and Counterparty Credit Risk: Challenges and Opportunities

PRMIA Education Event: Webinar

Presented by Diana Ouamar,

On August 1st, 2012 the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) stated that it is "not feasible" for the Capital Requirements Directive IV (CRD IV), which implements the Basel III guidelines in the European Union (EU), to enter into force by the current implementation deadline of January 1st, 2013. Furthermore, the FSA notes that no alternative date has yet to be announced by EU institutions.

Despite the delay, the FSA has pressed firms covered by CRD IV to continue to prepare for its implementation. Even though there is still a significant amount of uncertainty around what the final regulations will contain and, in spite of the potential for "last-ditch changes" or even a postponement in the implementation deadline, Banks will need to comply with relevant portions of CRD IV from the beginning of next year.

In this webinar, I will outline some of the key challenges and opportunities in implementing CRD IV within the counterparty risk areas:

  • Review of the regulatory timeline for implementation;
  • What should have been done as of today;
  • The capital impact exercise; and
  • What's next?

This webinar will last 60 to 75 minutes.
